Day 2: Anchorage

Breathe the Mountain Air

Experience the beauty of the Chugach Mountains in a full-day exploration with your private guide. Recognized as the country's third largest state park, Chugach offers over 500,000 acres of rugged land and as well as some of the most accessible hiking, wildlife viewing, and wildflower areas in all of Alaska. Take to the trails with your naturalist guide, traversing the varied trails that have been chosen and customized to your interest. Take home memories of high alpine wildflowers, browsing moose, and soaring eagles. Drink in true Alaskan beauty depicted by roaring glacier-fed rivers, unrivaled mountainous vistas, clearwater streams, and maybe even a glimpse of a grizzly bear. Learn about the park's rich geologic natural history and identify local flora and fauna with your expert host.

Day 3: Anchorage

High in the Sky

Set out on a signature 1-hour flightseeing tour with a knowledgeable guide and a small group of fellow travelers. Fly by Lake George, awarded Natural Landmark status for its scenic beauty, and keep alert for sightings of moose on the valley floor. Drink in stunning views over the Knik River and Knik Glacier before landing on the glacier. As you descend for landing, you’ll quickly realize the scale of this impressive glacier as the ice wall comes into view. Stepping out into the icy tundra, explore a mesmerizing ancient ice field with your pilot-guide. Marvel at azure blue melt pools, crevasses, and the bizarre ice formations created by water, wind and the sun. Wander through this mystical natural marvel and enjoy plenty of time for photo stops. Gaze out at that serene scenery one last time on return flight before enjoying the transfer back to your hotel. Please note, the flight and glacier landing is dependent on weather conditions and pilot discretion. If it is unsafe to land on the glacier, the pilot may land nearby.
Enjoy time on your own to explore the town of Anchorage, a hub for incredible nature beauty and Alaskan culture. Anchorage is home to the some of the best Alaska has to offer in terms of both artistry and attractions. Choose to visit the Anchorage Botanical Gardens, a haven of flora and fauna that showcases the breathtaking diversity of Alaska's native plants. Take a walk along the Coastal Trail, which offers stunning views of the sparkling waters and majestic mountains that surround the city. This picturesque pathway is perfect for both a relaxing stroll and an opportunity to spot local wildlife. Delve into Alaska's rich heritage at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Opt to expand your knowledge at the Anchorage Museum, where art, history, and culture converge, or the Museum of Science and Nature, a place where curiosity knows no bounds. The day is yours in Anchorage, a city that seamlessly blends the wonders of nature with the richness of its cultural heritage.

Day 4: Anchorage To Seward

A Dazzling Drive

Explore the scenic Seward Highway in a full-day exploration of Turnagain Arm en-route to Seward. Depart Anchorage with your knowledgeable local driver-guide, journeying along one of only 13 highways in the US with the unique distinction of "All American Road". Enjoy great opportunities to view and photograph diverse wildlife and stunning scenic vistas. Pause for lunch at The Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood, where a scenic tram ride up the mountain provides unforgettable views. During the summer months, make a stop at Portage Lake, where you can board the MV Ptarmigan for an optional one-hour cruise (pending availability). Drink in the majesty and stunning scenery of the iceberg-dotted lake. After the cruise, stop in at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Alaska's wildlife. The AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals year-round, providing spacious enclosures and quality animal care. Here you can experience an up-close encounter with some of the state's most iconic inhabitants, providing great photo opportunities. Although the animals at the AWCC are unable to be released back into the wild, they are rehabilitated and cared for by a team of dedicated staff.

Day 5: Seward

Call of the Wild

Experience a 6-hour shared catamaran tour through the famous Kenai Fjords National Park, admiring incredible wildlife and towering glaciers along the way. The journey begins as you board a stable catamaran and set out for a memorable scenic adventure through the Kenai Fjords, their ever-changing landscape shaped by past earthquakes and ocean storms. Your knowledgeable captain will provide insights and a full narration to your journey, pointing out the many spectacular natural marvels and sharing information on the area's ecology, history, and geology. Stay alert for wildlife sightings which may include whales, sea otters, Steller sea lions, puffins, eagles, harbor seals, and seabirds. While on-board, indulge in tasty complimentary lunch to keep you fueled for adventure.

Day 6: Seward To Anchorage

Ride the Rails

Navigate the waters of Resurrection Bay in a shared kayaking excursion through pure Seward splendor. This is your opportunity to get up-close and admire the beauty of Lowell Point and the bay. While making your way to to the kayaking location, your driver-guide will provide insight into daily life in Seward, both past and present. Travel along the shoreline of Resurrection Bay on the gravel surface of Lowell Road. Witness turquoise blue waters and beautiful mountain vistas en-route to your launch point. The awaiting local guide will provide a quick briefing before inviting you to head out onto the water. Keep alert for sightings of sea otters, harbor seals, bald eagles and leaping salmon. Pause for a short walk on the beach along Tonsina Creek to view a seasonal salmon spawning stream. Stretch your legs, explore the ghost tree forest, skip rocks, and enjoy the pristine surroundings at Tonsina Point before kayaking back to the launch point.
Depart Seward today for a train transfer to Anchorage. Ride the Alaska Railroad in a relaxed atmosphere, winding through wilderness and drinking in endless vistas.
