Day 2: Auckland

Meet your private guide at your city hotel to begin an exclusive half-day walking tour into the heart of Auckland. Nicknamed the "City of Sails" for its abundance of yacht marinas and its rich maritime history, Auckland is New Zealand's largest and most bustling city, often confused for its capital. Along with your guide, you'll not only discover the city's history, sights, and sounds, but you'll also experience a glimpse into daily Aucklander life. Discover Princes Wharf, once a commercial wharf on the city's waterfront now re-developed into a dazzling hub of bars and eateries, looking out to Waitemata Harbor. Visit the NZ Maritime Museum and learn of the early arrivals to the country, from early Polynesians to the Europeans. Meander through the entertainment district of Viaduct Harbor, home to buzzing night life and gourmet experiences. Stroll through Auckland's entertainment district, Wynward Quarter for gorgeous skyline views and head just a few minutes east to explore they city's famous Laneways and the Britomart Pavilions, a chic hub for fashion and eateries, ideal for treating your palette to a sweet treat or adding a new accessory to your wardrobe. Your walking tour concludes with a return to your Auckland hotel.
While Rugby is something of a national pastime in New Zealand, it's also a source of cultural identity and national pride for most kiwis who engage with the sport in one way or another from a very young age. New Zealand has proven itself the world dominator in the sport; Since the World Rugby Union started posting rankings in 2004, New Zealand has spent a total of 743 weeks in the top spot far ahead of second place, South Africa at 196 weeks. Today you'll make your own way to the All Blacks Experience at 88 Federal Street - right in the heart of Auckland's central business district and next to the city's iconic Sky Tower. There, you'll "learn what it takes to make, shape and be an All Black" with a 45-minute guided experience to kick off the day with an introduction to the game as part of kiwi culture and lead you through a state-of-the-art, interactive, and at times immersive experience that is truly fun for fans of all ages (whether they've been following rugby for a while or are just learning about it today)! After you've felt the full force of the haka up close and personal and tried your hand at some fundamental rugby skills, you'll end the day with a fully personalized All Blacks home jersey as a great memory of this day.
Note: Please let your Destination Expert know the preferred sizes of those in your travel group for your personalized jerseys.
